I am having some severe financial and family issues….

I am going to have to disappear for a while. That means no fics,no posting, no nothing. I don’t know when I will be back and right now I don’t much care. I am probably more depressed and broken down than I have ever been and i need to take some time to figure out my situation. I will miss you all in the means time. See when I see you.

what to wear when…a fairy tale antagonist’s daughter.

example: the giant’s youngest daughter from blàr-cogaidh de eunlainn (the battle of the birds), the tyrant’s daughter from морской царь и василиса премудрая (ivan tsarevich, the sea king, and vasilisa the wise), the ogre’s daughter from jack and lady feather flight

[in an “obstacle flight,” or “girl as helper in the hero’s flight” fairy tale,] a hero sets out on a quest with the help of a range of specialized companions with separate human skills and/or a marvelous ship; or is tricked into the power of a mysterious other-worldly figure whose domain he must reach.
he acquires a king’s/ogre’s daughter after the performance of three tasks with her help. on the return voyage, the girl eludes her father’s pursuit by creating a series of magic obstacles to the pursuers.
the idea that a persecutor’s daughter helps a fleeing hero to gain an object or objects and delays the pursuit with diversions is clearly embodied in the handling of the jason story in classical antiquity.
[the tale of kanlı koca oğlu kanturalı in] dede korkut offers us an unbroken presentation of the whole story…but it is only when we come to basile and his successors in the seventeenth century and beyond that we can really see what the story looks like when presented as what we now understand by a fairy tale rather than a myth or an epic.
